UPDATE 11:00 3/8/14:  DeWine out of the hospital and on his way home to Cedarville said spokeswoman Lisa Hackley.  Here is the full release:

"Attorney General Mike DeWine left The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati this morning after staying overnight for observation following a bout of vertigo.  He is feeling much better and is on his way home to Cedarville.

"Mike and Fran would like to extend their thanks to the caring staff at The Christ Hospital, and to all who expressed their good wishes.

Calling all (potential) gardeners in Madisonville

The 500 Gardens Projects hopes other communties follow its lead based on a handbook it's creating.

If all goes according to plan, there will be 500 vegetable-producing gardens in Madisonville this spring.

Organizers of the 500 Gardens Project want to make sure nobody has to walk further than their own yard to taste vine-ripened tomatoes, peppers and zucchini. Without a car, many residents cannot get to a grocery store easily.

The goal is that one in ten households plant a garden with the help of volunteers.

Indiana casinos taking a hit from Horseshoe Cincinnati

There is no question that the three Indiana riverfront casinos within easy driving distance of downtown Cincinnati’s Horseshoe Casino have taken a financial hit over the past year.

But revenues have declined in all 13 Indiana venues, and none more so than the three southeastern Indiana casinos in the Cincinnati market - Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg, Rising Star Casino Resort and Belterra Casino.

And it has been going on for the past four years – long before Horseshoe Casino in Cincinnati opened its doors.

Rand Paul to headline Hamilton County GOP dinner

The Hamilton County Republican Party has landed one of the hottest names in national GOP politics as its speaker at the annual Lincoln-Reagan dinner in May - Rand Paul, Kentucky's junior senator.

Paul, who was elected to the Senate in 2010, is said to be seriously considering a run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.

The event will take place on the evening of Friday, May 16, although the county party organization has yet to set the time and place for the Lincoln-Reagan dinner, one of the party's major fundraising events each year.

Crime not a big problem around the Casino

It’s been a year since Horseshoe Cincinnati opened, and in the fourth part of our series looking back at that year we’ve found, so far, fears of prostitution, drug activity and violent crime haven’t been realized.
