When it comes to making use of available resources to deliver public transportation, the Cincinnati bus system is tops compared to 11 peer cities. That's according to a study being released at today's State of Metro annual meeting. The research by the UC Economics Center shows Metro is number 1 in operational efficiency--getting the most bang for its buck.
But Metro ranks more middle of the pack when it comes to the level of service provided. (Number 7 to be exact.)
Two Cincinnati Council Members are calling for the city's responsible bidder ordinance to be repealed because they say it is holding up needed Metropolitan Sewer District projects.
Council Members Charlie Winburn and Christopher Smitherman discussed the issue Monday during a Job Growth Committee meeting.
“The only solution this Council has is to repeal the responsible bidder ordinance,” Smitherman said. “Then try to normalize our relationships with our county partners by talking with them offline in a tone that is understandable”
The Cincinnati Museum Center has some work to do before Hamilton County Commissioners will put a requested levy before taxpayers.
The board Wednesday opted to take the recommendation of the Tax Levy Review Committee and postpone any decision on the levy request until after July. The Museum Center has until then to come up with a plan and funds for repairing and restoring Union Terminal.
