The glitches in the government’s computer system that have been causing frustration for millions of Americans trying to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act are being worked out, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in Cincinnati Wednesday.
“I will be the first to tell you that the web site launch was rockier than we wanted it to be,’’ Sebelius, a Cincinnati native said at a forum on the Affordable Health Care Act – also known as Obamacare –at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College Wednesday.
The Greater Cincinnati Homeless Coalition is suing the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department over a policy to remove the homeless from the courthouse steps. Commission executive director Josh Spring says Sheriff Jim Neil's department will start threatening arrest this week. Spring wants to wait until after the winter shelters open in a month and a half.
The Sheriff and Major Charmaine McGuffey were guests on Cincinnati Edition today where the sheriff's homeless strategy was one of the topics. McGuffey said the department has been patient.
Public officials and residents who support the Cincinnati streetcar project gathered in front of Music Hall on Elm Street Tuesday as the first pieces of track were put into place. The unloading and installation will continue many times for the next 2 years.
Mayor Mark Mallory said it's a big deal.
"This project has come a long way, we've had a lot of obstacles, we've had some crazy opposition," Mallory said. "But this is the project that will not stop."
Another airline is coming to CVG. Allegiant says it will begin nonstop jet service from the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky international airport to the Orlando/Sanford and Ft. Meyers/Punta Gorda airports starting in February.
Allegiant's Brian Davis says it aims to keep prices low and maybe encourage other airlines to drop rates as well.
"This is rated as one of the top highest fare communities in the country," says Davis. "This is historically within the top three. We believe that there's a huge opportunity for an airline like Allegiant to come in and drive down fares."
