Tesla tests Cincinnati market, car dealers oppose

The Ohio Senate is still considering legislation that would prohibit car manufacturers from bypassing the dealer to sell directly to the public.

Tesla Motors is the poster child in this debate and WVXU went to the Kenwood Towne Center where the electric car company has one of two storefront locations in Ohio.

Why you shouldn't leave your car running while you run a quick errand

Cincinnati police are launching a public awareness campaign aimed at making sure your car isn't the next one reported stolen.

Police want you to think twice before leaving your car running to warm up or while you run inside a convenience store. Lieutenant Colonel James Whalen says, "In the City of Cincinnati last year we had over 1,200 cars stolen. That represents an almost 20 percent increase from 2012. And, so far, year-to-date we have more than 230 cars stolen, which represents an additional 10 percent increase."

Home sales cool in February

You can blame the winter weather for last month's slowdown in the housing market.  Home sales in Ohio were off 4.3 percent compared to a year ago when the weather wasn't as harsh.  It was the second consecutive month statewide closings dropped.

“A survey of the state’s real estate professionals conducted during the month found that two-thirds of respondents indicated that the cold, snowy conditions resulted in a marked decline in home buying activity," said Chris Hall, president of the Ohio Association of Realtors, in a statement.

Port, Chamber & others relocating together

Five regional agencies that aim to drive business and economic growth are moving in together.

The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, Regional Economic Development Initiative (REDI), Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority (Port Authority), Cincinnati Business Committee (CBC) and the Cincinnati Regional Business Committee (CRBC) are co-locating in the Three East Fourth Street building between Vine and Walnut streets Downtown.

The five organizations combined have about a hundred employees.

Aroldis Chapman to have surgery today, plate inserted in head

Update:

Aroldis Chapman is having surgery Thursday to insert a plate and screws above his left eye after being struck in the head by a batted ball Wednesday night, according to Rob Butcher, the Reds' director of media relations.

Chapman, the Reds' left-handed closer, was injured in a game with the Kansas City Royals, when he was struck above the left eye by a Salvador Pena line drive. Chapman had fractures above his left eye and nose.

Team physician Timothy Kremchek said Chapman suffered a mild concussion but his vision was not affected.
