The Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court is continuing her statewide conversations about judicial election reform. Maureen O'Connor spoke Friday to the Clermont County Chamber of Commerce in Eastgate.
O'Connor said polling shows people like their local judges, but they think there are problems with the legal system. She said it is important to have an impartial judiciary.
Update 2:50pm: The Ohio Supreme Court has issued an order today disqualifying Hamilton County Juvenile Court Judge Tracie Hunter from acting as a judge because of the indictment. In the order signed by Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor, it says “it is further ordered that she shall remain disqualified while any and all indictments filed in the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas are pending and until further order of this court.”
The first flu-related death of the season is being reported in Northern Kentucky.
The Northern Kentucky Health Department says a Kenton County man died from complications of the flu. The department says the middle-aged man had a history of chronic health problems that may have made him more susceptible to flu.
So far this season, more than 330 cases of flu have been reported in Northern Kentucky.
