Longtime WGUC announcer dies

Funeral services will be held Thursday evening for long time WGUC morning host Paul Laumann. 

Laumann hosted the Kitchen Koncert  on 90.9 for 14 years.  He retired in 1986 and was replaced by John Birge.  Enquirer Radio and TV reporter John Kieswetter reports Laumann previously hosted the Kitchen Koncert on Taft Broadcasting's WKRC-FM (101.9) when the station was doing classical music in the 1960's.

WPAFB to install new base commander

The new head of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base takes command Thursday.

Col. John Devillier will be installed as commander of the 88th Air Base Wing during a 10 a.m. ceremony at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. He replaces Col. Cassie Barlow who is retiring.

Until now Devillier served as Commander of Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. He also previously commanded the 466th Air Expeditionary Group in Afghanistan.

RealtyTrac: Foreclosure starts up in Indiana and Ohio

Foreclosures are down nationwide for the first half of 2014, when compared to the same time last year. But foreclosure starts are up in Ohio and Indiana. Indiana saw a 65 percent increase while Ohio went up 17 percent.

The numbers come from RealtyTrac's mid-year foreclosure report.

Miami U hockey coach named to Team USA

The 2013-2014 Miami Redhawks club ice hockey team celebrates winning the ACHA championship.

Miami University's Women's Ice Hockey head Coach Scott Hicks has been named to help lead Team USA.

Hicks will serve as an assistant coach for the Women’s National University Team. The team will compete at the 2015 Winter World University Games in Spain. The games run Feb. 4-14 in Granada.

Teachers deliver alarming allegations against charter school

The state board of education is launching an investigation into at least one charter school after hearing disturbing testimony from a group of former teachers.

Sexual misconduct, racism, teacher intimidation, questionable testing policies, and mishandling of complaints about those claims were among the allegations the teachers brought to the state board of education meeting.

The teachers were all former employees of the Horizon Science Academy Dayton High School, a charter school managed by the Chicago-based Concept Schools.
