Reds launch 11 Days of Larkin

The Reds are retiring Barry Larkin's uniform number a week from tomorrow and leading up to that they've launched a series of celebrations called the "11 Days of Larkin."

The National Hall of Famer's #11 will be retired August 25th. The events that day will feature a block party at The Banks starting at 1 p.m. and a post-game performance by Larkin's daughter Cymber, who's an international recording artist.

Early voting decision leaves everyone unhappy

In politics, as in most human endeavors, a compromise solution that leaves both sides less than ecstatically happy is probably the right solution.


That may be the case with Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted’s decision this week to set uniform hours for early, in-person voting at all of Ohio’s 88 county board of elections.

Poll: Kasich gaining popularity

Ohio Gov. John Kasich - who has been no stranger to controversy in his year and a half in office - seems to be gaining popularity with voters, according to a new poll released this week.

Public Policy Polling, a North Carolina Democrat polling firm, released a poll of Ohio voters Wednesday showing that 41 percent approve of Kasich's job performance, while another 41 percent disapprove.

Democrats not satisfied with Ohio elections directive

A crowd gathers at the Hamilton County Board of Elections demanding Saturday voting hours

Hundreds of Hamilton County Democrats want a federal court to intervene forcing the Board of Elections to have Saturday hours for the month leading up to the presidential election.


The overflow crowd at a Hamilton County Board of Elections meeting extended out into the hallway as Democrats clamored for something to be done. They say Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted's directive didn't go far enough without Saturday hours for early voting.


Board Democrat Caleb Faux got right to the point.
