Shed no tears, Reds fans - They'll be back

No crying in baseball.



Not even now, when the disappointment in Reds Country is deep and profound; when the high hopes have blown away with the autumn leaves; when the over-sized World Series tickets thousands of Reds fan have stashed away at home are nothing but bittersweet souvenirs of a season that ended too soon.



Yes, I’m disappointed as the rest of you are.

Ohio trying to capitalize on university research

Ohio Governor John Kasich has said he wants Ohio's public universities to do more to capitalize on the results of their research work. That's something Miami University started several years ago on their own and other schools are getting on board too.

The Technology Transfer and Commercialization Task Force is recommending expanding college entrepreneurial programs; fostering stronger links between research universities and the business sector; and eliminating intellectual property barriers that can deter universities and and companies from partnering.

Reds falter in Game 4 of NLDS, series now tied

Reds fans didn't have much to cheer about as the Reds fell to the Giants 8-3.

After winning the first two games of the National League Division Series in San Francisco, the Reds have now dropped two games at Great American Ball Park, leaving their postseason hanging on Game 5 Thursday afternoon.

The Giants scored 8 runs on 11 hits, three of them home runs.  Despite getting 9 hits, the Reds could only muster 3 runs.  Mike Leake was the losing pitcher; Tim Lincecum picked up the win in relief for San Francisco.

Mat Latos will start for the Reds in Game 5.   Matt Cain takes the mound for the Giants.
