Cincinnati Council listens during first budget hearing

About 50 people offered testimony Thursday night during the first public hearing on Cincinnati’s proposed 2013 budget.

Council’s Budget and Finance Committee listened to the comments.

More than half of those speaking offered testimony supporting funding for Media Bridges. It operates cable public-access channels and has a small radio station. It also offers free media production classes to individuals and groups.

New Paycor HQ in Norwood underway

Paycor has broken ground for its new headquarters in Norwood.  The Cincinnati-based human resources and payroll solutions provider will be moving into the $20- million facility in the spring of 2014.  CEO Bob Coughlin said it marks the beginning of a new era for the company as it broadens its focus from payroll to people management.

"Paycor has tremendous momentum today and this new headquarter project will allow us to keep that momentum by providing a better place for our employees and clients to collaborate, " said Coughlin.

Jones turns down CU

Jones spoke with Cincinnati media Tuesday about UC playing in the Belk Bowl.

UPDATE 12:45 pm:  Associate Sports Communications Director for football Ryan Koslen confirms that Jones has withdrawn his name for the Colorado position. 

UPDATE:  Several media outlets are reporting Thursday that Jones has turned down the Colorado position.    There's  a link to Dennis Janson's story in the WCPO news section of this web page.  More on this story as it develops.

Qualls makes it official - she's running for mayor

Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls – who served as Cincinnati’s mayor in the 1990s – formally launched her campaign to return to the mayor’s office with an event Thursday morning in Walnut Hills that drew dozens of supporters.



One of those supporters was the present mayor, Mark Mallory, who will be term-limited out of office in 2013. Mallory appointed Qualls as vice mayor; and made her chair of Cincinnati City Council’s most influential committee, the Budget and Finance Committee.
