Jones: I'm still the coach here

UC's football team is looking forward to playing in the Belk Bowl on December 27, but whether Butch Jones will be leaving to coach another school is still up in the air.  At a news conference Tuesday, reporters were told the focus would be on that upcoming game against Duke, and Jones stuck to that when the first questions came about whether he was staying or going.

Cincinnati Council must set 2014 property tax rate soon

By mid-January Cincinnati City Council must decide how much property tax money it wants to collect for the 2014 budget year. 

The vote will come as the body works to finalize next year's spending plan.

The rate must be set earlier because the city is changing from a calendar year budget to a fiscal one. 

For the last decade Council has been holding the amount of property tax revenue collected steady or slightly reducing it. 

A Council Member asked Budget Director Lea Eriksen this week what that's meant for the city.

Qualls to make mayoral race official Thursday

Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls - who was Cincinnati's mayor in the 1990s - will formally announce her candidacy in the 2013 mayoral race Thursday morning in Walnut Hills.

The current mayor, Mark Mallory, who is term-limited out in 2013, will accompany Qualls at a gathering at a pottery factory on Gilbert Avenue in Walnut Hills.

Mallory's 2009 campaign manager, Jens Sutmoller, will run Qualls' 2013 bid for the mayor's office.

One other candidate, also a Democrat, has announced his candidacy for mayor - former council member John Cranley.
