Ohio's early voting starts Tuesday; could eclipse 2008

There are signs that the early voting which begins in Ohio Tuesday is going to be even bigger this year than it was in the last presidential election four years ago.

Registered voters in Ohio will be able to vote in person at their county boards of elections beginning Tuesday morning, but many more are expected to vote absentee by mail.

As of Thursday, the Hamilton County Board of Elections had already received absentee ballot applications from 61,263 voters.

“They’ve been pouring in,’’ said Amy Searcy, director of the Hamilton County Board of Elections.

Cincinnati Police Chief fights test in court

Cincinnati's Police Chief has gone to court to prevent having to take a state exam. Chief James Craig filed the appeal in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court. The Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission is the defendant.


The organization requires recruits to undergo 500 hours of training and take a 200 question test. Most of the training has been waived for Craig but earlier this month the Commission told him that he must take the test.

Reds Manager suffered mini-stroke, full recovery expected

The Reds released a statement today saying as Manager Dusty Baker was being discharged from a Chicago hospital on Friday he suffered a mini-stroke and immediately was treated by the hospital's stroke team, which minimized the effects of the stroke.
