Romney in West Chester: Ohio holds the key

Before a fired-up, massive crowd that waited hours to hear him, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney told a crowd of 30,000 at West Chester’s The Square of Center Pointe that he represents “real change” and that he needs them to help him win the key state of Ohio Tuesday.


“Your state is the one I am counting on,’’ said Romney, who trails Barack Obama by a small margin in some Ohio polls.  “This is the state we have to win.”

Last weekend for hazardous waste collection

This is the last weekend for Hamilton County's free hazardous waste drop-off program. The site closes for the year Saturday.

Here are the details from the Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District:

Free to Hamilton County residents only. Bring proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill.

Downtown Cincinnati casino ready to hire more help

Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati announced Friday it’s now ready to hire an additional 400 workers.

This is the second phase of its recruiting initiatives as the casino prepares for a 1,700 member workforce for an opening in the spring 2013.

Casino officials said candidates are currently being sought for several roles in accounting, finance, facilities, slots, and security.  The facility is also seeking about a dozen culinary positions including accomplished chefs, sous chefs and restaurant managers.

will.i.am, Vivica A. Fox rally early voters for Obama

The Obama-Biden campaign is sending seven-time Grammy winner will.i.am and actress-producer Vivica A. Fox to Cincinnati Saturday for a "Party at the Polls" event outside the Hamilton County Board of Elections.

"Party at the Polls" begins at 10 a.m. outside the board of elections at 824 Broadway downtown.

The board offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for early voters, as well as from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday.
