Study finds gaps in Hamilton County housing stock

A new study finds a large unmet housing need for the elderly and disabled in Hamilton County.

The report was commissioned by the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA). It looks at the county's housing stock, structural integrity, neighborhood demographics and community amenities.

Cincinnati Council ready to vote on 2013 budget

The full Cincinnati Council will vote Friday on the nearly 20 documents needed to adopt the city's 2013 budget.  

The Budget and Finance Committee Thursday approved the framework for the spending plan.  It takes the city manager's recommended budget and makes some ten changes to it.

Airport wants feedback on master plan

The Cincinnati Northern Kentucky airport is rolling out its master plan Thursday evening.

Officials will explain the airports 'road map' for growth during a public information session. The master plan study includes passenger and cargo forecasts, facility assessments, and the feasibility of focusing on direct flights versus acting as a transfer hub.

Tonight's "open house" style meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.

Reds sign free agent infielder to two-year deal

Jack Hannahan, a veteran utility infielder, has become the third Cleveland Indian to join the Cincinnati Reds this week.

The Reds announced this morning that the 32-year Hannahan, a free agent, has signed a two-year contract through the 2014 season, with a club option for 2015.

Terms of the contract were not released.

Hannahan and Reds general manager Walt Jocketty will hold a press conference at 11:30 a.m. today at Great American Ball Park.

Niehaus official portrait unveiled at Statehouse

Ohio Senate President Tom Niehaus, the New Richmond Republican who is in his waning days as Ohio Senate president, was honored Tuesday night with the unveiling of an official portrait in the Senate Chamber where he has served the past eight years.

The Clermont County Republican's portrait was done by artist Leslie Adams, who has painted the state's official portraits of Bill Harris, Niehaus' predecessor as Senate president; and former governors Bob Taft and Ted Strickland.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich was among those attending the official unveiling.
