Council Member wants metal detectors back at Cincinnati City Hall

A Cincinnati Council Member wants to reinstall metal detectors at the entrance to City Hall.  

Cecil Thomas said in a press release the current protocol of having people sign a register as they enter the building doesn't deter violence.  He said anyone could carry a weapon into the building.
Thomas points out federal and county public facilities use metal detectors.

SORTA Board appoves agreement language Cincinnati opposes

The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) is moving ahead with the process to apply for an $11 million federal grant to help build the Cincinnati Streetcar system.   

A cooperative agreement will govern how the two agencies spend the federal money during the streetcar project.  

But the SORTA Board has approved language in a document the city does not want included.

Prince Hall Shriners convention returning in 2015

The Prince Hall Shriners, who filled downtown Cincinnati in August 2011 with 25,000 members, spouses and family, liked the experience so much they are bringing their national convention back in 2015.


The Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine – better known as the Prince Hall Shriners  - is the oldest African-American fraternal organization in the world , founded in 1893 with 35,000 members in 227 Shrine Temples around the country.

With small town post offices closing and cutting hours, the Postal Service has developed a new concept in which it partners with stores to offer its services. One Butler County store is the  second Village Post Office to open in Ohio.
