Kentucky Police use cards to nab crooks

KSP is handing out playing cards featuring cold cases in hopes of generating new leads.

Kentucky State Police is betting high on a program targeting prisoners.

The agency is handing out decks of playing cards featuring cold cases in hopes of generating new leads.

Since 2010, the agency has distributed more than 8,000 decks and followed up on hundreds of leads.

Trooper Michael Webb says the effort has helped crack three out of 52 cases so far. While that may not seem like a lot, Webb says it is.

Appeals court affirms City Gospel Mission move to Queensgate

An appeals court has affirmed a lower court decision allowing the City Gospel Mission to relocate its facility to Queensgate.


The homeless shelter is planning to move from Over The Rhine to property located on Dalton Avenue.


Several neighboring Queensgate businesses and property owners, who oppose the relocation, filed a lawsuit in 2011 challenging a City Council action that allowed the plan to move forward.

"Beyond Civility" features Sittenfeld and Wilson

A discussion with Democratic Cincinnati council member P.G. Sittenfeld and Cincinnati Tea Party founder Mike Wilson will be featured at the second of four events sponsored by Beyond Civility, an organization that promotes civil discourse between people on both ends of the political spectrum.

The "Side by Side" series with Sittenfeld and Wilson will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10 at Hebrew Union College's Mayerson Hall in University Heights.

*Update 4:30 pm (From Metro)* All Metro service is operating. Three routes are on detour due to ice and snow (new addition in bold):

  • Rt. 24 Anderson - UC (Liberty Hill)
  • Rt. 31 West End - Evanston Crosstown (Hackberry Loop)
  • Rt. 39 Western Hills - Uptown (Liberty Hill)

Additional detours and delays are possible throughout the Metro service area as it continues to sleet and snow.

Bengals heading to playoffs for second year in a row

Josh Brown, signed to replace injured Bengals kicker Mike Nugent, kicked a 43-yard field goal with four seconds left to give Cincinnati a hard fought 13-10 victory over the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

The win puts the Bengals at 9-6 and secures them a postseason spot for the second straight season.  The Steelers had their playoff hopes dashed.

The Bengals wrap up the regular season next Sunday when they host the Baltimore Ravens at Paul Brown Stadium.
