New law has tails wagging

Gov. John Kasich signs a puppy mill bill into law.

Ohio’s Governor has signed a bill into law that cracks down on puppy mills.

The signing ceremony for a bill that sets standards for high concentration kennels went to the dogs… literally. As Governor Kasich signed the bill, a Bichon named Sammy joined him on the table.

The bill requires registration and vet checks for dogs in high volume kennels.  It’s a change that Sue Pohler, the owner of a puppy milled dog, says has been a long time coming for a couple of reasons.

A trio of deputies from the Environmental Protection Agency, Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Transportation toured sites along Cincinnati's proposed streetcar route Thursday. They're checking out sustainability projects such as rain gardens and housing developments.

Roebling closed during rush hour

**Update**

From The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet:

"The Roebling Bridge will be closed beginning approximately at 4 pm until so that the District 6 Bridge Crew can take check the north tower.  This afternoon a piece of sandstone fell from the ledge.  At this time it appears to be superficial, but crews will take a closer look.  The bridge will reopen once inspection is complete and deemed clear."

The Roebling Suspension bridge is out of commission for Thursday rush hour traffic.

Rumpke to Build New Recycling Facility

Rumpke says it will build a 32-million dollar recycling center in Saint Bernard to replace its former facility destroyed by fire last year.


In a release the company says the facility will be 85-thousand square feet and will create one of the largest and most technologically advanced residential recycling systems in the U.S.  It will be capable of sorting up to 55 tons of material every hour, more than doubling the capabilities of the previous system.


Rumpke estimates the new facility will bring about 100 new jobs to St. Bernard.
