Kentucky lawmakers file gun bill

Hoping to reduce gun violence in Kentucky, a group of Democratic lawmakers have filed a bill  that would allow Kentucky State Police to set regulations banning certain firearms or high-capacity magazines.

The bill, which state Sen. Kathy Stein plans to file in the Senate on Thursday, would also allow cities and colleges to ban guns and would require private background checks  for every gun sale in Kentucky.

Stein, a Democrat from Lexington, said she's not seeking to infringe on Second Amendment rights from the U.S. Constitution.

Rove's Super PAC takes on Ashley Judd

Actress Ashley Judd, who has been talked about as a potential opponent in 2014 for Kentucky's Sen. Mitch McConnell, is the subject of a digital attack ad put on the internet by GOP strategist Karl Rove's Super PAC, American Crossroads GPS.

The ad mocks Judd, who studied at the University of Kentucky, for being a Tennessee resident and a "Hollywood liberal," who would follow President Obama lock-step if elected.

What to do with the Lebanon Raceway?

The Lebanon Raceway will move when the racino opens in 2014, leaving the site vacant.

Warren County leaders have some big decisions to make about how to fill the soon to be vacated Lebanon Raceway.

With the Miami Valley Gaming racino on track to open in early 2014 in Turtle Creek Township, (Union Rd. and St. Rt. 63) a Warren County planning committee is starting to examine how to fill the space Lebanon Raceway no longer will. The 93 acre Warren County Fairgrounds is owned by the taxpayers and Commissioner Dave Young says he wants to make sure they get their money's worth. There are many possibilities. He likes an equestrian center.

OKI asks for comments on updating bike map

The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments wants to hear from people and groups who bicycle in Cincinnati as it begins updating its Bike Route Guide map.  OKI is asking for comments, ideas and questions about the current map. 

"It was last updated in 2010," said OKI Senior Planner Don Burrell.  "It's fairly popular with cyclists and gets distributed through our office and a number of bike shops."

Commission supports Gov's budget

All three Hamilton County Commissioners are optimistic about Governor John Kasich's proposed state budget.

Republicans Chris Monzel and Greg Hartmann call the plan bold and filled with a lot of changes that could affect county government. Hartmann adds the proposed budget has the potential to be revolutionary.

Democrat Todd Portune agrees. He especially likes the plans for Medicaid.
