Cincinnati will speed demolition near schools, family zones

Cincinnati will be speeding up the demolition of condemned buildings within 1,000 feet of schools or areas with a large number of families with children.  

Council Member P.G. Sittenfeld has been working with officials to make the change.  He said in the past the city has demolished about 40 to 60 structures a year.

Fourth time a charm for Kentucky DUI bill?

For the fourth year in a row, Kentucky State Rep. Dennis Keene, D-Wilder, has introduced a bill that would require those convicted of drunk driving to install an ignition interlock device which would test their breath for alcohol before allowing the engine to start.

This time, Keene is more confident his fellow legislators will go along, because of a federal law passed by Congress in 2012.

Church responds to Pope's resignation

Local Catholic church officials are reacting to today's announcement that Pope Benedict XVI will resign at the end of the month.

In a statement, Cincinnati Archbishop Dennis Schnurr writes:

“In announcing his resignation, Pope Benedict XVI has acted humbly and unselfishly for the good of the Church. That same spirit has characterized his entire life of service.

When bioLOGIC moves in its newest start-up companies in March, the old dance hall, turned lab and office space, will triple its size. Managing Director Keith Schneider shows off the bigger conference room.
