CPS says it won't lose any money over scrubbing

The Cincinnati Public School District says it will not lose millions of dollars after violating, what it calls a business rule, in a state scrubbing investigation.


At a news conference CPS called the accusations a misinterpretation of the constantly changing requirements from the Ohio Department of Education. To make their point, school officials displayed a binder containing 500 pages on how to report attendance data. Teachers Union President Julie Sellers pointed out an omission from the ODE on its own website.

Sheriff's office employee arrested for theft

The property room supervisor of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department - who is also a well-known nightclub singer in the Cincinnati area - has been arrested for removing property, along with his wife and his wife's son.

Arrested and charged with tampering with evidence were Michael Esposito, known as a performer as Mickey Esposito; his wife, Allison Esposito of Loveland, and her son, Adam Fintak of Norwood.

Banks eatery in rent dispute

Bar brawl over rent

The folks at Toby Keith's I Love this Bar and Grill have more than hamburgers and beers on their plates. According to court filings, the restaurant hasn't been paying its rent.

An affiliate of The Banks developer is filing suit against the restaurant's owners. Court documents allege Toby Keith's hasn't paid rent since November of last year. The monthly rent is $41,066.67.

The developer is asking for all rents, payments, fines and other related costs.

Cincinnati celebrates work completed near new Downtown casino

The Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati is scheduled to open its doors March 4th.  

City officials and others gathered Tuesday morning near the site to celebrate infrastructure improvements near the Downtown location.  

Mayor Mark Mallory said the work is the result of a collaboration between the city, the casino and nearby residents.

“There’s a lot of work that has gone into making sure that this facility fits the community,” Mallory said.  “That the operators of the casino understand what this community is all about and they do.”
