Several organizations now say they're ready to move forward on planning for a Westwood Civic Square.  Four organizations sent an e-mail Tuesday to Mayor Mark Mallory and Council Members on the project.

Flu deaths up to 5 in Northern Kentucky

Northern Kentucky health officials are seeing an alarming trend this flu season; more people have to go to the hospital. Statistics from last week showed one in four people who had the flu required hospitalization.


The Northern Kentucky Health Department District Director Lynne Saddler says fighting the flu is hard on the body.

Cincinnati begins garbage collection changes next week

The 35, 65 and 95 gallon trash carts that will be available for Cincinnati residents.

Cincinnati will begin making changes to its garbage collection system starting next week.  

That’s when workers will begin distributing 65-gallon trash carts to about 90,000 residents. That process will take until at least August to complete.

Vote fraud defendant seeks diversion program

A 75-year-old Symmes Township man charged with illegally casting an absentee ballot for his deceased wife last fall has asked a Hamilton County Common Pleas Court judge to place him in a diversion program, thus avoiding jail time.

Russell Glossop was charged with voter fraud after mailing in an absentee for his wife, Betty Ann Glossop, who died on Oct. 1 last year. She had requested an absentee ballot in August. The absentee ballots were not mailed out until Oct. 4, three days after her death.

Glossop is one of three persons charged with voter fraud.

Reds release details for Opening Day

Manager of Team USA in the 2013 World Baseball Classic, Joe Torre will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Reds opening day, on Monday.  In a release, the team announced the gates will open three hours before game time at 1:10 PM. 

Earlier the Reds Community Fund will sponsor a Charity Block Party on Joe Nuxhall Way and Freedom Way.  That starts at 11:00 AM.
