Public meeting on another section of Ohio River Trail

Cincinnati officials are holding a public hearing Wednesday evening on a western portion of the Ohio River Trail.  

The city has a feasibility study on the nearly four-mile long component that would run through Lower Price Hill, Sedamsville, Riverside and Sayler Park.  This portion of the bike, running and walking trail would generally be located from the Evans Recreational Area near the Mill Creek to Gilday Riverside Playfield.

SCPA teacher wins Badwater race

Fourth time's a charm: In his fourth time running in the grueling Badwater race, Lewis came in first.

With extreme changes in elevation and high temperatures, the Badwater Ultramarathon is billed as the world's toughest foot race.  A Cincinnati runner has won this year's event in California.  38-year-old Harvey Lewis teaches social studies at the School for Creative and Performing Arts, and said his accomplishment truly had not sunk in yet.

"It feels like almost a dream, especially because it's something that's been literally a dream for me to accomplish, and it's just a phenomenal feeling," said Lewis.

Pilot program aims to reduce LGBTQ youth homelessness

Cincinnati-area groups are working together to test a federal pilot program aimed at reducing the number of homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning (LGBTQ) youth.

Meredith Hicks with Lighthouse Youth Services explains why the region is one of just two in the country chosen to try out new strategies targeting this vulnerable population.

Biden, Paul to headline National Urban League Conference here

About 8,500 delegates will arrive in Cincinnati Wednesday for the four-day annual conference of the National Urban League.

The event at the Duke Energy Convention Center will feature some well-known speakers – Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, a potential Republican presidential candidate, on Friday.

The theme of this year’s annual conference is “One Nation Underemployed: Bridges to Jobs and Justice.”
