Cincinnati planning to study city youth

A Cincinnati Councilwoman and members of a youth commission are launching what they call a groundbreaking study on the city's youth.

Yvettte Simpson said the study will focus on six areas: crime, poverty and homelessness, education, workforce development, health and developmental opportunities.  

Simpson and several commission members announced the project during a City Hall press conference.

Beyond Civility

Beyond Civility, an organization that promotes civil discourse and understanding among people with differing political views, has something different planned for the next discussion in its "Back-to-Back" series - a debate on issues between a Democratic legislator and a former Republican lawmaker.

State Rep. Denise Driehaus, a Clifton Democrat, and former state senator and representative Lou Blessing, a Colerain Township Republican, will "present their opposing parties' arguments on some of the hot button public policy issues of the day."

Lytle Tunnel rehab being planned

The Ohio Department of Transportation is planning a major renovation for the Lytle Tunnel.  Some of the work will begin later this year.

The project includes sealing tunnel joints, replacing tiling, and upgrading obsolete lighting and electric systems.

A second phase of the project consists of replacing and expanding the tunnel’s ventilation system.  That will require modifications to Lytle Park above the tunnel.

City Transportation and Engineering Director Michael Moore updated Council's Budget and Finance Committee Monday about the project.

Troubled Kenwood Towne Place has a new name and marketing plan

Developer Phillips Edison and leasing agents Jones Lang LaSalle and Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate are beginning to market the newly named "Kenwood Collection," known to most as Kenwood Towne Place.

Cincinnati ready to hire new streetcar executive

Cincinnati Council could take the necessary steps this week to hire the former head of the city’s transportation and engineering department as the executive director for the streetcar project.

John Deatrick has lots of experience managing big projects including the reconstruction of Fort Washington Way and the public portions of The Banks development.
