NKU announces new athletic director

New NKU athletic director Ken Bothof was introduced today.

Northern Kentucky University says that Ken Bothof has been named the school’s Director of Athletics.  He'll start the job on Aug. 19.  Bothof comes to NKU from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he has served as athletic director since 2002.

Cincy Council reduces meeting schedule for rest of year

Cincinnati Council Members will have some extra time to campaign for re-election this fall.  The group voted Wednesday to cancel half of its scheduled meetings for the rest of the term which ends on December 1st.  

There will only be seven sessions in the next five months.  That compares to the 14 that would ordinarily be held.  

Council will meet as follows:  August 7th, September 11th, September 25th, October 9th, November 13th, November 20th and November 27th.

Member P.G. Sittenfeld was the only one voting “no” on the plan.

Clock running on sewer district compromise

City and county officials now have about five weeks to try to work out a compromise on several Metropolitan Sewer District policies (MSD).

Council voted unanimously Wednesday to suspend its local hiring policy until August 1. Until then the sides will try to reach an agreement on it and a portion of a responsible bidder policy that requires apprenticeships.

Cincinnati losing Econ Devp director

Cincinnati's economic development director is leaving for a job in Detroit.  

Odis Jones' last day will be July 12th.   He’s accepted a position with the Detroit Public Lighting Authority.

Local developer has plans for Drawbridge Inn

The Drawbridge Inn has been vacant since late last year.

A Fort Mitchell landmark that's been closed since December could become the site for a new upscale mixed-use development.  Commercial real estate developer Brandicorp says it plans to acquire the Drawbridge Hotel and Convention Center, also known as the Drawbridge Inn.
