'Priceless' artifacts stolen from Miami University

It might be a case for Indiana Jones... Miami University says someone has stolen 13 Native American, Aztec and other artifacts. The items were taken sometime over the weekend.

The university estimates the loss at nearly $10,000 but says that is a generic estimate based on similar objects found online. An official says the items are priceless because the real value is unknown and the items are irreplaceable.

Ohio governor signs budget

After months of discussion and debate and several days of lingering questions, the state has a new two-year, $62 billion budget.

The budget includes a gradual income tax cut over three years for everyone, a 50 percent income tax cut for small businesses, an increase in the state sales tax along with an expansion to digital downloads and magazine subscriptions, and some property tax changes. Gov. John Kasich said he was pleased with it, though it didn’t include his proposed Medicaid expansion.

Could Rand Paul be a winner in Ohio?

The Rand Paul phenomenon seems to have crossed the river into Ohio.


Actually, the popularity of the junior senator from Kentucky has crossed a lot of boundaries in recent months – the point where he is considered by many a legitimate contender for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.


Before the 2010 election, he was a practicing ophthalmologist, running a clinic down in Bowling Green, Ky. It was his father who was the famous one – then-Texas congressman Ron Paul, who has run three times for president as a Libertarian and a Republican.

Governor Kasich to sign budget Sunday

The only thing that’s left for the state budget is a signature from Governor John Kasich.  A signing ceremony is scheduled for Sunday night.

Though the budget that passed the House and Senate is markedly different than the one he proposed in February, Gov. John Kasich says he’s happy with it. But he says the phased in income tax cuts of 8.5%, 9% and 10%, and the 50% tax cut for small businesses, along with the increase of the state sales tax to 5.75% aren’t enough.
