Water utility leaders discussing business model in Cincy this week

Hundreds of water and sewer utility managers from the across the country are in Cincinnati this week.  They're here for the National Association of Clean Water Agencies 2013 summer conference.  
Some topics being discussed include innovative management, financing and a more resilient business model for public utilities.

Greater Cincinnati Metropolitan Sewer District Executive Director Tony Parrott said the industry is experiencing a rebirth.

"Right church, wrong pew" voters must be counted

An issue which left a Hamilton County Juvenile Court judgeship in legal limbo for months after the 2010 election has been resolved once and for all by a federal district court judge in Columbus.

U.S. District Court Judge Algenon Marbley has made permanent a ruling he issued last year saying that provisional ballots cast by voters who show up at the right polling place but the wrong precinct table must be counted.

Ohio does well in national hospital rankings

Christ Hospital ranks fourth in the state for Ohio's best hospitals, according to U.S. News and World Report.

Greater Cincinnati and the Miami Valley are well positioned when it comes to medical care. The latest rankings from U.S. News and World Report place Christ Hospital near the top of the list for Ohio's best hospitals.

Memo warns of excessive costs of parking lease plan

Mayoral candidate John Cranley, along with several city council members and candidates, are calling on the Port Authority to put an end to the city's parking lease deal based on a memo from the city's parking lease consultant that says the costs will be excessive.

The June 20 memo, from Walker Parking Consultants, was delivered to the city administration the day before City Manager Milton Dohoney Jr. signed an agreement with the Port Authority to lease out the city's metered and garage parking to private companies.

The biggest names in tennis will grace center court this summer at the Western & Southern Open. Officials say Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will compete on the men's side. Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Li Na will compete for the women's title.
