Several suburban Dayton newspapers closing

Three Dayton-area newspapers are ceasing publication.

North Carolina-based Civitas Media says it is shutting down the Springboro Sun, the Kettering-Oakwood Times, and the Centerville-Washington Township Times.

The company's CEO Michael Bush says Civitas is focused on serving rural communities and these three papers don't fit that business model. It's also shutting down five papers in North Carolina.

A news release says affected employees are being offered positions elsewhere in the company.
