Early voting for Cincinnati mayor begins August 6

Early voting for the September 10 Cincinnati mayoral primary begins on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Persons who want to cast early absentee ballots can find applications at the Hamilton County Board of Elections website. They are also available at public libraries in Cincinnati and at the board of elections offices.

In-person early voting at the board offices at 824 Broadway downtown will begin the same day.

GE's key role in generating more electricity on aircraft

GE's electrical power systems business, with an eye toward the increasing need for power on airplanes, is about to open the first of its kind research facility on the campus of the University of Dayton. The EPISCENTER (Electrical Power Integrated Systems Center) will provide the floor space and infrastructure needed to test four complete electrical systems.

City and Consortium planning for new MLK interchange

The state's plan calls for work to start next year on the MLK interchange at I-71.

Governor Kasich's transportation funding plan released this week would give a boost to a project to build a new interchange at Martin Luther King Junior Drive and I-71 in Cincinnati's Uptown.  The plan calls for starting construction next year on the $107 million project. 

Local officials have already been making their own plans for the interchange and the second of two planning studies is being held tonight.  Uptown Consortium CEO Beth Robinson says the project is expected to radically change the face of Uptown and increase traffic on MLK.

Cincinnati announcing it's partnering with Nextdoor

Cincinnati officials will be discussing a new plan Wednesday morning that will use technology to better communicate with residents in the city's 52 neighborhoods.  

The city is partnering with Nextdoor.  

The website has been operating since October 2011 and has about 16,000 neighborhoods represented nationwide.

Communications Director Kelsey Grady said Nextdoor is a private social network that allows neighbors to connect.

Meeting tonight about District 3 police building

Cincinnati residents who live in police District 3 are getting a chance to offer their input on what the new police headquarters’ for that area will look like.  

Officials are holding a community meeting Tuesday evening.  

Stakeholders from all neighborhoods in the district are invited to assist with the design and public components of the new facility.
