Cincinnati man beats speed typing record with new device

The Cincy Typing Challenge Finals were held Thursday at the Cincinnati Museum Center. Seven finalists from Saturday’s public competition met in head to head competitions.

Robert Price, of East Walnut Hills shut out the other finalists with gross speeds of up to 137 words per minute.

The competition promoted a new “rear-typing” technique which uses a rear-mounted split keyboard on a curved, handheld device. The product, still in development, is called “TREWGrip mobile QWERTY” for the user’s ability to type on a full-sized QWERTY-style keyboard while on the go.

Groups tell Ohio legislators how they were targeted by IRS

The Ohio General Assembly's House Policy and Legislative Oversight Committee met in Cincinnati Thursday to hear from people who claim they were targeted for extra scrutiny by the IRS.

Those who spoke, talked about how they had to answer pages of confusing questions that, at times, sounded like political research on their groups.

Timothy Savaglio is a member of the Liberty Township Tea Party. He says filling out the IRS's many and pointed questionnaires became like a full-time job.

Cincinnati Police release details about fatal officer involved shooting

Three separate investigations are underway after Cincinnati police officers were involved in a deadly shooting incident Wednesday afternoon in Clifton.  

The situation started with a 911 call from a mental health care provider.  The caller requested officers respond to Clifton and Ludlow Avenues for a person with mental health issues who had a gun.

Interim Police Chief Paul Humphries said 5 officers eventually encountered 32-year-old Roger Ramundo on the back deck of Arlin's Bar and Restaurant on Ludlow near Clifton.

County investigating if 'Obamacare' could mean lower property taxes

An outside healthcare consultant will help Hamilton County determine if any of its property taxes can be reduced now that the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, is law.

County Commissioners want to know if some things paid for with local property taxes will be covered by federal dollars.

Brent Spence project to be on federal priority list

Senator Rob Portman's amendment to make obsolete and structurally unsound bridges such as the Brent Spence Bridge here a priority for federal funding passed in the U.S. Senate today.

It's not yet known how much of the $500 million set aside in the transportation appropriations bill for bridges in critical condition will go to the Brent Spence project, which officials in Ohio and Kentucky say will cost an estimated $2.7 billion to complete.
