It's Restaurant Week in Cincinnati

Downtown restaurants are hoping a week-long special deal will attract foodies and their wallets.

Cincinnati's fifth annual Restaurant Week kicks off  Monday. Nearly 30 participating restaurants are offering three course meals or dinner for two for a set $35 price tag.

The group behind the effort, Do Downtown, says the goal is to increase awareness about downtown dining options.

Democrats have a deal for their mayor candidates

So the Hamilton County Democratic Party has two candidates for mayor – John Cranley and Roxanne Qualls – and party leaders have vowed not to play favorites.

So why, in the campaign finance reports filed this week, did Qualls get $9,000 from the party and Cranley got $2,500?

Outsmart Smartphone Thieves

Smartphone theft is on the rise, in part because criminals can resell the devices for up to $150 a piece.

Police say nearly 900 smartphones were stolen from January to June, a 10% increase from last year. iPad thefts are up 71%.

One day event to collect hard-to-recycle items

Keep Cincinnati Beautiful is offering a one-day free recycling event Saturday for hard-to-recycle items.

They'll be taking various kinds of e-waste like cell phones and computer components along with plastic grocery bags and number 5 plastics.

The one-stop-drop will be at the Whole Foods in Rookwood Commons.
