Will Ohio reverse course on same-sex marriage in 2014?

It is widely believed that, in 2004, George W. Bush won a second term in the White House because Ohio had a constitutional amendment on the ballot banning same-sex marriage.

The electoral college contest between Bush and Democrat John Kerry, came down to Ohio. Ohio’s constitutional ban on same-sex marriage brought out evangelical Christian voters in droves – the so-called “values voters.”

Kentucky's economy recovering, but slowly

A new report on state economic conditions says that Kentucky is still on the road to recovery from the  recession.  

Kentucky Chamber of Commerce president Dave Adkisson said a new report released by the chamber examining data in jobs, wages and housing market growth shows the state has been slowly climbing out of the 2008 recession.

Gay marriage ruling stands on Ohio death certificates

Federal Judge Timothy Black has decided to issue a permanent injunction in the case of John Arthur and Jim Obergefell, and William Ives and David Mitchener, meaning same-sex unions have to be recognized on death certificates in Ohio. The Attorney General's Office says it will appeal.

Christmas treats for Cincinnati Zoo animals

Twas two days before Christmas and throughout the zoo, creatures were stirring, including a mouse. But there were no stockings. Santa packed treats on the ground and in the trees for lucky animals like bears, a lion and elephants three.

Santa was narrating for kids who tagged along. "How do I make them happy during the holidays? I bring them their special gifts and such as the polar bear. They have an ice block and it has fish and all kinds of wonderful things that they like to eat."

AAA forecasts increase in year-end holiday travel

AAA is projecting that a record number of people will be taking a trip this holiday season.  Spokeswoman Cheryl Parker says 94.5 million Americans will be traveling 50 miles or more from home from December 21 through January 1.

"It's up 0.6 percent from last year," said Parker, Corporate Public Affairs Manager for AAA Allied Group in Cincinnati.  "It's the fifth consecutive year that we've seen an increase in the number of people traveling, so it's the highest travel we've recorded since AAA's been tracking the data."
