More than 100 people gathered to sing and pray on Fountain Square Tuesday afternoon and then marched to the Cincinnati Archdiocese to turn in petitions protesting the new 2014-2015 contract all teachers at Catholic schools will have to sign.
Earlier this year some Cincinnati Council members and city public school officials announced plans for joint meetings. The second such session was held Monday night and another is likely to be held next month.
The effort is called ACES, or Alliance for Community and Educational Success. Council Member P.G. Sittenfeld was one of the organizers.
Local realtors say they saw another drop in business last month, likely the leftover effect of the extreme winter weather. Home sales fell 8 percent in the Cincinnati area compared to March 2013. Northern Kentucky closings were off by 7 percent.
