With extreme changes in elevation and high temperatures, the Badwater Ultramarathon is billed as the world's toughest foot race. A Cincinnati runner has won this year's event in California. 38-year-old Harvey Lewis teaches social studies at the School for Creative and Performing Arts, and said his accomplishment truly had not sunk in yet.
"It feels like almost a dream, especially because it's something that's been literally a dream for me to accomplish, and it's just a phenomenal feeling," said Lewis.
About 8,500 delegates will arrive in Cincinnati Wednesday for the four-day annual conference of the National Urban League.
The event at the Duke Energy Convention Center will feature some well-known speakers – Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, a potential Republican presidential candidate, on Friday.
The theme of this year’s annual conference is “One Nation Underemployed: Bridges to Jobs and Justice.”
