Poll: Rand Paul in the mix for 2016 GOP nomination

Kentucky's junior senator, Rand Paul, finished third among a group of eight potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates, according to a poll released this week.

The Quinnipiac University poll showed among 712 voters who described themselves as Republicans Paul had 15 percent support for the GOP nomination, bested only by Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida (19 percent) and the 2012 vice presidential nominee, Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan (17 percent).

Air Force Museum feels sequestration effects

The National Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton is closing some exhibits and could close more because of the sequester.

Beginning May 1, the museum's Presidential and Research & Development Galleries will close until further notice.

Miami Redhawks fire Women's Basketball coach

Miami University is looking for a new women's basketball head coach.

The Redhawks have fired Maria Fantanarosa effective immediately.

"I want to thank Coach Fantanarosa for all that she has done for Miami in her 15 seasons as Head Women’s Basketball Coach," said Miami Director of Athletics David Sayler. "She has been a valued member of the Miami community, and we wish her success in the next chapter of her career.”

Kentucky Supreme Court vacancy being filled by judge from Northern Kentucky

In a historic appointment, Governor Steve Beshear has named Court of Appeals Judge Michelle M. Keller of Fort Mitchell to the Kentucky Supreme Court.

The appointment increases the number of women on the state's highest court to three. It is the first time the state Supreme Court has had three female justices on the bench.

Keller replaces Justice Wil Schroder, who resigned January 17 due to health reasons.

In a statement, Keller said her appointment is bittersweet.

Appeals court schedule for Cincy parking plan

An appeals court is scheduled to hear oral arguments on Cincinnati's parking lease May 6th. 


The First District Court of Appeals released a filing Wednesday with the schedule for the case.


The city will have to have submit its brief by April 19th and lawyers representing the residents who oppose the parking plan will have to respond by April 29th. 


The court also said those briefs could be no more than 20 pages long.  That split the difference between the two sides.  The city had suggested a 15 page limit and the opposing lawyers wanted 25.
