State Rep. Peter Beck indicted on 16 fraud counts

State Rep. Peter Beck, a Mason Republican, has been indicted by a Hamilton County grand jury on 16 felony counts involving alleged security fraud – charges that could result in a maximum of 102 years  in prisons if convicted on all counts.


And, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said Friday at a press conference with Hamilton County prosecutor Joseph T. Deters, there could well be more charges to come in an “on-going investigation” of Beck’s handling of money of investors in a start-up software company.

Update: U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Black has scheduled a hearing Monday at 1:30 for this case. Attorneys for Jim Obergefell and John Arthur and attorneys from the Ohio Attorney General's Office will present their case.

Gov. Kasich: Future bright for Ohio

East-Side Chambers of Commerce are praising Ohio's efforts in making the state a more business friendly place.

Matt Van Sant, President of the Clermont County Chamber, says he's in the economic development business, creating jobs and stimulating the private sector to invest. He was happy to hear Governor Kasich's message that lower taxes seem to be turning what used to be a bad business climate around.

Camera crews are in Cincinnati to shoot the Cincinnati Bengals training camp for the HBO series Hard Knocks.  They'll be putting in a lot of time and effort as they record the daily routines of the players and coaches for the sports-based reality show.

Freedom Center celebrates Nelson Mandela

Former political prisoners now work as tour guides at the famous Robben Island Prison where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years of imprisonment.

Though former South Africa President Nelson Mandela remains in a Pretoria, SA hospital, the world is celebrating his 95th birthday.

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is marking the occasion by continuing its "Six Words for Mandela" campaign. Guests are invited to leave words of thanks and well wishes for the man known as "Madiba." The cards will eventually be sent to Mandela's family.
