ODOT launches one of the 'largest construction season to date'

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is officially making it every driver's favorite time of year by kicking off construction season Wednesday.

The state is working on nearly a thousand projects totaling an estimated $2.3 billion.

Lytle Tunnel rehab being planned

The Ohio Department of Transportation is planning a major renovation for the Lytle Tunnel. Some of the work will begin later this year.

The project includes sealing tunnel joints, replacing tiling, and upgrading obsolete lighting and electric systems.

A second phase of the project consists of replacing and expanding the tunnel’s ventilation system. That will require modifications to Lytle Park above the tunnel.

City Transportation and Engineering Director Michael Moore updated Council's Budget and Finance Committee Monday about the project.

Cleaning up near Cincinnati interstates

Keep Cincinnati Beautiful is teaming up with the Ohio Department of Transportation for a clean-up project Saturday focusing on the city’s dirtiest entrance and exit ramps on Interstates 71 and 75.

Volunteers are asked to report to the ODOT location at 1400 Seymour Avenue in Cincinnati by 10:30 a.m.

With all the construction that’s likely to start up on Ohio roads this spring and summer, this may be some good news for drivers from ODOT.

The transportation department is launching ohgo.com, where ODOT director Jerry Wray says travelers can customize their trips within six major Ohio cities and between different regions of the state.

Ohio bid rigging investigation underway

There are questions regarding whether Ohio Department of Transportation employees followed the proper bidding procedures and allowed conspiracies between suppliers. A Hamilton County company is the first to plead guilty.

According to Attorney General Mike DeWine, Quattro Inc, a seller of traffic control devices, wasn't playing by the rules. The company worked with a co-conspirator to submit prearranged quotes to ODOT and at other times submitted multiple quotes from itself and related companies.
