Developers of the newly named Kenwood Collection are in Las Vegas this week for the International Council of Shopping Center's Global Retail Real Estate Convention. There, David Birdsall, senior vice president of Strategic Investment Funds for Phillips Edison, hopes to find retailers for this new development.

Developer Phillips Edison and leasing agents Jones Lang LaSalle and Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate are beginning to market the newly named "Kenwood Collection," known to most as Kenwood Towne Place.

Former Kenwood Towne Place developer indicted

The man responsible for the unfinished Kenwood Towne Place project is under indictment. Former Managing Director Matt Daniels is charged with 25 conspiracy and fraud counts.

The indictment alleges Daniels borrowed millions from a bank to develop Kenwood Towne Place but instead used the money for personal gain.

FBI Special Agent Ed Hanko says the investigation took three years.

Former Kenwood Towne Place CFO indicted

The chief financial officer of Kenwood Towne Place and its developer, Bear Creek Capital, is being accused of bank fraud.

Tina Schmidt was indicted Thursday in federal court in Cincinnati. The indictment alleges Schmidt and others knowingly took millions in loans from Bank of America to build the now defunct retail and office complex next to Kenwood Towne Center but instead used the money for other projects.

Her attorney could not be reached for comment.

The property was sold to a new developer last month.
