public art en DCI launches public art map <p>Downtown Cincinnati Incorporated has created an online database of public art that features the city's fountains, monuments, murals and architecture.&nbsp; It's all the things that DCI says make the streets of downtown an outdoor gallery on view 24/7.<br /><br /><a href="">The website </a>also includes itineraries for five walking tours with a focus on specific artworks, shops and eateries along each route:</p> Tue, 03 Jun 2014 18:26:40 +0000 Mark Heyne 27518 at DCI launches public art map The London Police Invade Northern KY <p><span style="line-height: 1.5;">Greater Cincinnati has been synonymous with murals for generations.&nbsp;</span></p><p>In 1932, Winold Reiss created 23 towering mosaics for Union Terminal -- though 14 of them have since been moved to the airport for preservation.</p><p>One of Cincinnati’s most iconic pieces of art is the mural for the Terrace Plaza Hotel, created in 1947 by Joan Miro -- that now sits across from the Terrace Café in the Cincinnati Art Museum.</p><p>Cincinnati’s own ArtWorks has been decorating facades and exterior canvases since 1996.</p><p>In 2010 muralist Shepard Fairey plastered his imagery – quite literally – all around town.&nbsp;</p><p>And just last March, Irish artist Maser’s mural “Get Up” was installed on the side of a building on Pendleton St.</p><p><strong>Now, the London Police are back in town.</strong></p><p> Fri, 16 Aug 2013 19:54:06 +0000 Jim Nolan 16255 at The London Police Invade Northern KY New public art piece at convention center <p>Cincinnati’s <a href=""><strong>Duke Energy Convention Center</strong></a> is about to receive a brand new public art installation, compliments of <a href=""><strong>ArtWorks</strong></a> and local artist <a href=""><strong>Brenda Tarbell</strong></a>. As Jane Durrell learns from the artist and ArtWorks apprentice <strong>Susan Romer</strong>, the piece is entitled <strong>Buds, Blossoms, Branches, Boughs for the Queen</strong> and is an homage to local flora.
