But there also many of us who have limited exposure to classical music, maybe an orchestra concert in the park, or at an event such as LumenoCity. Over the last several years, performers, orchestras and music organizations have been trying new approaches to engage a much larger percentage of the public to listen, appreciate, and learn about the music of Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Bach, and other great composers. But if you’'re new to classical music and want to hear and learn more, where do you start? Joining us to answer that question is Laura Sabo, organizer of Classical Revolution Cincinnati; musician Heidi Yenney, who plays with Collegium Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, concert;nova, and the Amicus Chamber Players; and, Classical 90.9 WGUC Music Director Jessica Lorey. Her blog, Clef Notes, provides a nice forum for exploring the world of classical music.

Fri, 25 Jul 2014 06:30:00 +0000 Mark Perzel 29624 at http://wvxu.org Classical music is everywhere: commercials, cartoons, concert halls, city parks Xavier University Music Series opens its 37th season http://wvxu.org/post/xavier-university-music-series-opens-its-37th-season
It’s time for the 37th anniversary season of the Xavier University Music Series, and new coordinator Polina Bespalko visits with our Frank Johnson to preview the upcoming year of classical piano, classical guitar and swing music concerts.

Sat, 12 Oct 2013 05:00:30 +0000 Frank Johnson 18172 at http://wvxu.org Xavier University Music Series opens its 37th season Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses http://wvxu.org/post/legend-zelda-symphony-goddesses
On October 27, Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, comes to Cincinnati's Music Hall for one night only.

Now touring the United States and Canada, Symphony of the Goddesses brings Zelda fans and symphony goers alike an entirely new and exciting multimedia experience that honors over 25 years of the classic video game franchise The Legend of Zelda.

Tue, 01 Oct 2013 17:27:14 +0000 Jim Nolan 17686 at http://wvxu.org Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses Bunbury, World Piano and Archery Competitions http://wvxu.org/post/bunbury-world-piano-and-archery-competitions
Great music, old and new, is coming to town this week.
